Building in public
I'm building an app in public.
It's scary. Really scary.
Why? It's not as if I haven't built hundreds of apps over the years.
Undoubtedly the nakedness.
Behind closed doors I can architect a schema badly, build an unusable feature, ship a layout I'll hate by Friday. Dev testing exposes it. Code review finds it. The mistakes die quietly and nobody keeps count.
Public building takes away the safety net. No foundation, no filter, no blemish tool. Just me and my code and all our respective warts.
"Where's in-page search?" asks a Discord member.
"Huh? [reviews code]. Oh snap, I didn't even think to build that. Good call ... added to the queue."
Does it make me look like an idiot? Perhaps. Does it sting? Every time.
And yet ... I've never felt safer.
